My Approach

"Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom." - Victor Frankl

I am an existential counselor, meaning the focus of my clinical counseling with clients is identifying their values and empowering them through collaboration and self-exploration to face and overcome the myriad of obstacles that life often throws our way.  Together we will work to determine how you can use your own free will to take action to move your life in a direction of meaning that aligns with your personal goals and values.  This can often look very different depending on what concerns are the most salient for the individual I am working with; so although my over-arching clinical philosophy is existentialism I frequently blend a great deal of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) to aid my clients in identifying their values and empower them to take action to move towards their personal goals.

I believe that all individuals have tremendous capacity for change and are naturally driven to strive towards a purposeful life. Yet, to reach these goals many of us need to have a safe, empowering space to explore our inner thoughts, insecurities and fears that often prevent us from making valuable change in our lives.  My sole focus during our time together is to create a safe, confidential and collaborative space where you will feel empowered to explore your dreams and your fears while we work together to help you reach your clinical goals.
